Dr. McEldowney is Board Certified by both the American Board of Allergy and Immunology and the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is a member of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (AAAAI); American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (ACAAI); American Medical Association (AMA); American College of Physicians (ACP) and the North Carolina Medical Society.
Dr. McEldowney obtained his undergraduate degree at Northwestern University and a masters degree in science at Georgetown University. He earned his medical degree at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago. He finished his medical internship and residency training in Internal Medicine at the prestigious Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.
Dr. McEldowney completed a three year specialty fellowship in Allergy and Immunology in Madison, Wisconsin which is renowned for clinical research in asthma, viruses, and eosinophils (white blood cells). He accomplished an additional year of research and studied novel forms of immunotherapy and their effects on allergic and asthma symptoms and the immune system. He opened his solo practice in Blakeney to provide state-of-the-art allergy and asthma care with an emphasis on compassionate and timely service.
Dr. McEldowney’s hobbies include tennis, music and enjoying time with his wife and three children. Having recently relocated from Wisconsin, he is looking forward to spending more time outdoors this winter and less time shoveling snow!
